A propeller governor is required to control the blade pitch of hydraulic constant speed propellers. Once set, the governor automatically and continuously changes the propeller blade pitch to maintain a constant engine speed (RPM).
A standard propeller requires oil pressure to increase pitch, whereas a counter-weighted aerobatic propeller requires oil pressure to decrease pitch (increases RPM).
